About the
West Australian Car Club (Inc.)
Thankyou for inquiring about our Club. The following is provided to give you background
information on our Club and it's activities.
History
The West Australian Car Club (Inc) was founded in 1933 by car enthusiasts who wanted to
have fun with their cars and involve their families in that fun. One of the founding
members of our Club is Patron.
Today sees the WACC as one of the largest rally orientated Clubs in Perth.
With a membership of over 100 our Club is involved with events ranging from social club
events to senior officials with Rally Australia.
Activities
Club members can compete in a variety of activities based on the family car. These
activities include motorkhanas, shortest distance trials, khanacross, economy runs etc
These activities are held every couple of months in varying locations depending
on the type of event.
Rallies
The WACC currently holds the rights to organise a round of the Australian
Rally Championship, known as the Respect Yourself Forest Rally. This event
is the largest rally held in Perth, except for Rally Austraila.
Rallying can be divided into three competition levels -
- Clubman Cup, four events per year, entry level.
- State Championship, five events per year.
- Australian Championship, six events per year, across Australia.
Newsletter
The Club's monthly newsletter, Western Motoring, keeps members informed
of coming events and what's happening on the Club and rally scene.
Meetings
The Club has regular meetings that are held at our clubrooms at 265 Hale Rd, Wattle Grove.
The clubrooms were built as a joint venture with the Veteran Car Club and were completed
in 1986.
Up until mid-2006, meetings were held on the third Thursday each month, starting at 8pm.
Since then meetings are now held on the 3rd Thursday of every 3 months. A short formal
meeting is held to discuss important issues relating to our sport. The meeting is usually
followed by a rally video or some other entertainment.
Membership Fees
The current membership fee is $50.00 (including GST).
If you intend to compete in club events, you will require at least a
CAMS Level 2NS (non-speed) licence. For rallies you'll need a rally
licence.
Children are encouraged to join our club with junior memberships available for
children aged 12 - 17 years. With two adult memberships from the one family, junior
memberships are free.
