Committee Meeting Report - Wednesday 14 July 2021

An observation from the 2021 member survey suggested the committee share meeting minutes with the membership. This is the first high points synopsis of the committee's discussions as mentioned in Western Motoring on 9 August 2021.

The committee discussed the following items during a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, 11 August 2021.

  • Mesh Trailer
    • After plenty of use by multiple events, users identified potential for improvements.
    • R Budz and some interested event officials will make. plan for how the improvements can be made.
    • Expected to result in better use of space within the trailer, more stable carriage of equipment and better protection from the elements.
  • Member survey, a sub-committee met and action points follow:
    • The committee share the results of this survey with our members - completed via Western Motoring.
    • We create a 'social calendar' which includes four annual activities:
    • A training day – with training for officials, training for new competitors to the sport, and codriver training.
    • Two social events a year with guest speakers – note that there is a competing proposal via the WA State Rally Panel.
    • A club end of year event, incorporating a fun navigation rally, show and shine, Xmas BBQ?
    • We plan two busy bees per year, possibly combined with the social events?
    • We identify the help we need on events early in the year and ask for commitments from our members to the identified roles/needs.
    • We focus on and consider ideas for attracting and retaining young drivers and helping them transition from khanacross to rally.
    • We provide a high points synopsis of the committee's discussions to the members after each meeting and encourage feedback and input.
  • Funding from Motorsport Australia
    • Scott Beckwith secured funding from 2021 – Round 1 edition of Motorsport Australia’s Club Development Fund (CDF).
    • The WACC is delighted to have been successful in its application for a funding grant to support updating all our control signage, which will be a great improvement both operationally and safety wise for the sport here in WA.
  • AGM Date
    • Planned for Wednesday, 13 April 2022
  • Forest Rally Date
    • Friday, 29 April – Sunday, 1 May 2022
  • Need Officials for the Karri Rally
    • Number of registered volunteer officials is far short of expectations
    • Plans discussed to promote the opportunities to members
  • Asset Register
    • Time to reform and update the register
